Y&R - I watched the last two episodes with Summer (Allison Lanier) - I
think that must have been the May 1 and May 2 episodes. This was a
incredibly shoddy write-out - it played liked they didn't even know
Lanier was leaving the show until the last second, which I don't believe
for a moment. But the way this played out, Summer is going to leave town
for a "work emergency"... and then just never come back, abandoning her (adopted) son, and mom and brother in crisis?! If that's the way this
goes, they should probably just never bring the character back.

GH - Wed's ep. Joss the Spy finds out from Emma that she's on her own
mission to take down the Professor dude; Joss reiterates to her handler
and Brennan that she intends to beat Emma to the punch. After the
argument between Dante and Lois about Gio, NuNuLulu is now suspicious
and intends to investigate Gio as Dante's and Brook Lynn's possible son (jackpot!!). I think it was this ep where Brad dropped the dime on
Portia to Drew about drugging Drew for a cash payout (it seems like they
are setting up to write Brad out for good), but Drew is going to want
Brad to do "one more thing" to help take down Portia first.

    What did you watch?

I got to see a mix of COVERT AFFAIRS alums showing up on two different
shows. Piper Perabo has been playing the mom of a little girl who had
brain surgery and is now paralyzed on GREY'S ANATOMY. While
Christopher Goram (Auggie) showed up on DOCTOR ODYSSEY looking very
much like Billy Bob Thornton. Kept thinking to myself who is the low
budget BBT until we got a clear shot of his face and I knew it was an
    older Auggie.

GREY'S ANATOMY is all about the typical medical stuff along with Jo's
wedding with the requisite family drama. While DOCTOR ODYSSEY was
built around a massive earthquake and subsequent tidal wave that ended
up with numerous people hurt on the ship and off. With the episode
ending with the cliffhanger of another earthquake with Pacey ending up
    buried beneath some rubble.

I also got in the latest episode of TOP CHEF where they had a Mission Impossible themed task where they had to make a dish that had some
sort of stunt involved. Not many really pulled off the stunt aspect
but then they had relatively little time to conceptualize and pull off
a successful dish for the judges. In the end it was as usual the
little mistakes that happen during the cooking that ended causing
    another chef to get eliminated.

    What Did You Watch?

This will be a multi-day catch up. I watched:

Andor (Disney+) The next batch of three episodes dropped.

    "Messenger" - Episode 7. Meh!

"Who Are You?" - Episode 8. Things definitely picked up with this one
and they showed the Empire's massacre on Ghorman. We also saw some
    familiar looking imperial droids.

"Welcome to the Rebellion" - Episode 9 details the aftermath of the
massacre, and Mon Mothma steps up to openly oppose Palpatine. My jaw
dropped when she said his name on the senate floor. She went there!

    Star Wars Rebels (Disney+) - "Secret Cargo" - Season 3, Episode 18.
Someone posted online to watch this episode of "Rebels" immediately
after Andor, episode 9. Even though this episode came out in 2017, it
syncs up perfectly with episode 9 of "Andor" and shows what happened
next, and how Mon Mothma became one of the key leaders of the rebel
    alliance.

    Law & Order: Organized Crime (Peacock) - "Dante's Inferno" - Season 5,
episode 2. This is the episode from a few weeks ago. It was mostly
background noise. Thanks to the move to Peacock, I'm way behind on this.

Law & Order - "Tough Love" - The team investigate the murder of a sports
agent. I won't bother with more of a recap. It would be nice if they
could tell a story that didn't involve unnecessary twists and stupid
    legal maneuvers.

Law & order: SVU - "Aperture" - Team SVU spring into action when a
brother and sister are kidnapped and sexually assaulted at gunpoint.
But the siblings are surprisingly not cooperative in helping SVU pursue
the case. I actually caught on to what was happening early on thanks to
a movie I once saw with a similar plot.

Beat Street (TCM) 1984 movie about some young people in New York who
like to break dance and spray paint graffiti on trains. I know I saw
this once or twice before, but I can never remember it that well, and it jumbles in my mind with "Breakin'" Although I think I can sort of
remember this is the one where someone gets electrocuted.

The Righteous Gemstones - "That Man of God May Be Complete" - Season
finale. I haven't been mentioning when I watch this show. I'll just
say the finale was a wild ride.

Sherlock & Daughter - Already covered by anim8rfsk.

This is third episode this season where, after initially pleading not guilty and going to trial, the defense suddenly stands up mid-trial, admits to the murder, and says "but it was self-defense".

Well no one expects a shark attack on a screw on a cruise ship. Also
no one expects a cruise ship to only have a single propeller.

The midtrial self defense wasn't even the worst aspect of the episode.

What Arthur said. This was a plot frequently explored in literature,
movies, tv, radio, theater, etc. Conflict between father and son. Father
puts extraordinary pressure on the son to be the best, but son
disappoints. It's a plot that's impossible to fuck up, but the writers
on this show are up to the challenge.

Yeah, the younger son was upset about something but nothing in the
police investigation even hinted at anything along these lines. In
opening, my guess was the victim was going to be the moronic 30 year old athlete, just about to go bankrupt but couldn't fire his entourage
leaching off him. They were all committing tax fraud; none of that
    spending was business expenses.

I thought we might get a rarity on this show, a decent defense counsel.
He made a decent legal argument before the judge to suppress the younger brother's false statement to police.

I was surprised he was 17; at first, I thought he was a college freshman.

I am familiar with my state's law on whether minors must have a parent
or guardian or lawyer when speaking to police and I'll assume New York's
law is similar. Was the ruling correct? Police were treating the sons
    like witnesses, not suspects.

Since the perpetrator was sympathetic and the victim could have been
portrayed in a bad light, you'd really think defense would have sought a
    plea deal.

What was the point of bringing in the psychiatrist? Defense should have
laid groundwork for diminished capacity or temporary insanity. "I saw
furtive movements" doesn't get you self defense,

What's with Mauroon? "My uncle can't handle his finances so we all trade
off paying his rent." What, is he gambling his money away? Let him go
    homeless.

And then, "Offer him Man 1. It's the ethical thing to do."

For a murder in which premeditation is proveable? No, no it's not. I
hate to agree with Price here, but I do.

Before trial, you might work out a plea because, again, the perpetrator
was sympathetic and victim could have been portrayed as a monster. Nevertheless, once you've gone through trial, with defense counsel
sabotaguing his own client, go for the premeditated crime.

the actors playing the two brothers were decent in scenes
requiring them to show emotion. Once the younger brother cried during testimony, I thought the verdict was going to be an Emmy nomination.

In this script, the writer were perpetrators of bad television.

Wow. I had no idea why he looked familiar. And now he has 746 shards of
    glass in him.

746 cuts and places with stitches since the glass has been removed.

GREY'S ANATOMY is all about the typical medical stuff along with Jo's
wedding with the requisite family drama. While DOCTOR ODYSSEY was
built around a massive earthquake and subsequent tidal wave that ended
up with numerous people hurt on the ship and off.

I read that and thought to myself that sounds a lot like the type of
plot they'd do on 9-1-1, then I remembered they did a cross over with
9-1-1, so technically this show is set in the 9-1-1 universe.

    With the episode
ending with the cliffhanger of another earthquake with Pacey ending up
    buried beneath some rubble.

This is *definitely* a 9-1-1 plot!
