Star Trek has had many Captains in the history of the franchise, and there's
a lot of debate about who qualifies as the best and the worst. Well, after reading a Screenrant article that infuriated me and made my blood pressure rocket to 450/300, I decided to dismantle their list, and substitute my OWN! Here is Doomcock's ranking of the best and worst Captains of Star Trek! #startrek #sciencefiction #scifi

Who's "Robert Meyer Burnett"?? (O.K., so I've checked him out on

On a platform like YouTube, having the 'wrong' opinion could get
your channel removed and if the great unwashed know who you
really are, you could - depending on what opinions you actually
have - find yourself having no job and no money.

Okay, that is a drastic scenario but still... why take the
    chance?

The deniers of free speech are everywhere so you have to fit in
to their one-world view or else. Having a different opinion to
someone else almost seems to be a crime these days.

Which other captains and actors have been the lead in one or more official
Star Trek TV series? There are two in animated series - Sort of - but tbh
Lower Decks is not captain-focused and Prodigy doesn't have an official
captain in place to speak of ...

Nowhere above nor in the topic title does it say "lead in Star Trek TV
series" (I don't recall it saying it anywhere in this entire topic, but
I may have missed it). It's only if you visit the Screen Rant website,
as I did just now, that it specifically says that.

Overall "Picard" was 'kind of' good. I found it a bit of a mixed
bag. After starting off slowly - and a very dull S2 - by S3
"Picard" was quite enjoyable. (S3 was the best season IMO.)
Maybe having a lot of the old faces around made-up for some of

I haven't clicked on the link but if Mr Shatner's Captain Kirk
is not #1 on that list I am going to take my ball back and ye
    can all play with yourselves.

    My list is:
    1. Cpt James T. Kirk (William Shatner)
    2. Cpt Benjamin Sisco
    3. Cpt Edward Jellico
    4. Cpt Johnathan Archer
    5. Cpt Christopher Pike (original)
    6. Cpt Rachel Garrett
    7. Cpt William Decker
The rest can transport themselves into deep space.

The problem with "Kirk" is that he has been played by three* different
actors (so far), each bringing their own twist to the role to some
    degree.

    * Technically four since there was a 'young kirk' in JarJar Abrams'
abysmal movie. There was also a body-swap storyline which had
Sandra Smith playing Kirk trapped in a female body. Plus the
alternate / mirror universe versions of Kirk. There have of
course also been others playing the role in fan-fiction movies.

My personal favorite is Johnathan Archer. Despite being a flawed
individual, despite his ship being woefully outclassed by anything it
came across, he and his crew still went forth boldly where no man had
gone before. He didn't have incomprehensible space magic to fix any
problem, he didn't have an extensive support network of other ships and
space stations to help, in fact there was no network, no Federation and
no Prime Directive, he was making it up as he went along. He was the trailblazer and it was his light, flickering and feeble as it was, that
led the way to everything else.

Er... okay... that's certainly different anyway!

According to the video, he used to like Picard best, but thinks the
recent TV show "Picard" screwed it up. (I haven't seen that show yet,
so no idea if he's correct, but probably is since all the newer stuff
for every franchise tends to be rather abysmal and make idiotic

He later said Picard allowing Hugh to return to the Collective instead of giving him the Eisher picture in order to exterminate the Borg was why.

I liked about archer that he had to deal with all the space stuff without any guide or directives...
And it was nice to see them slowly adapt to the "geopolitics" of space
and i really wish they had gone with their original idea of the ship slowly being upgraded over the seasons with the last version of the ship slightly resembling the enterprise form TOS.

In Picard's shoes, Sisko WOULD have sent the virus to the collective. EVEN if he had not been at Wolf 359. That's what 'In The Pale Moonlight.' was about: Sisko making a painful conscience shaking decision in order to save the Federation. Sisko's view on the Captains is clear: The first time he met Picard, he wanted to punch his lights out. When he met Kirk? He got his autograph. 'nuff said there.

I'm glad to see Rachel Garret make the list. Just a few scenes and she shows exactly what it takes to be Captain of Star Fleet's Flagship. She even has molded her crew well enough that even with her gone... with most of them already dead, the survivors choose to go into a hopeless battle for a CHANCE
to save billions of lives. Not even a guarantee... just a chance. It takes a Great Captain to mold a crew that good.

I'm still pissed off that we never got to meet the real Lorca -
supposedly one of the greatest captains of his time - just his Mirror

    7 Captain Jonathan Archer
    6 Captain Michael Burnham
    5 Captain Christopher Pike
    4 Captain Benjamin Sisko
    3 Captain James T. Kirk
    2 Captain Kathryn Janeway
    1 Captain Jean-Luc Picard

    -
    Let's go Brandon!

Michael Burnham doesn't belong on the list. She's a good enough actress
I suppose, but it's not her fault her tv show sucks dick.

That whole series doesn't count since it isn't star trek, in my eyes.

    Here's my opinion.

    6 Archer
    5 Janeway
    4 Picard
    3 Pike
    2 Sisko
    1 Kirk

    I concur.

Kirk. Sisko. Archer. That is all.
I never thought about the I,Borg episode like this before. You are right. He
is a massive criminal for not ending the single greatest threat in the whole universe.

No love for Captain Frasier Crane of the USS Bozeman? Wow. He goes from
20th century barfly/radio shrink to 23rd/24th century starship captain
and doesn't even get a mention. So sad. Gonna go have a beer with
    Norm...

Was he the Bar-Fly that flew the first 'Faster than Light' Spaceship??

    No. That was Zephram Cochrane.

Fraser played the captain of the spaceship that went through some sort of
warp and ended up in Picards time and then they forgot about it completely.

The Enterprise is caught in some kind of time loop and they crash into Frasier’s ship and everybody dies, but then it automatically resets and
they go through it again. They managed to get data to remember a small
message which was enough to get him to dodge left instead of right or
    whatever.
