When I read a disparaging review of this, I thought the article must be
wrong. The director is Bong Joon Ho, the guy responsible for PARASITE,
which I thought was terrific, and the plot sounded right up my alley, as it borrows from MOON, which I also thought was terrific. But I got just over halfway through this one and put it on pause while I consulted Wikipedia
for the plot. It turned out the rest of the movie was going to be even more
of an overlong unfunny comedy and stupider than what I had already seen, so
I fast forwarded to a few key points and before you know it, the torture
was over. What a waste of an interesting sci-fi premise.

I haven't had this one queued, and it seems I shouldn't have. There
have been a substantial number of Asian directors who've breached my
culture gap enough that I've considered them must-see, but PARASITE,
frankly, left me wondering what magic everyone was finding in it.
