I’ve just been to the theatre to see “The Duchess (of Malfi)”, a >modernised update to the classic play. Jodie Whittaker starred
in the title role. It was nice to see her getting a good script for
a change!

Jodie Whittaker is not "Doctor Who" ... she's the Politically Correct, >quota-ticking, gender-swap Doctoress Who. :-p

I've got Zero idea what the story is about, but it seems you do, so how
do she do??

I've got Zero idea what the story is about,
One of those Jacobean revenge tragedies where everyone schemes
against everyone else then they all go mad and/or get killed at the end.
(See also Hamlet and Macbeth.)
It’s mentioned quite a lot in the Miss Marple story Sleeping Murder.

I’m not very confident at points out of ten, but maybe an eight
or nine.
She gets show a good range of emotions on a journey that
takes her from naïvely in love, to franticly plotting, then finally
broken and mad. And Whittaker handles them all well.
From a DW perspective there’s an interesting scene just after
the interval, where she’s being held prisoner in a sort of cube
structure, similar to the start of Revolution of the Daleks. But
the Duchess can’t keep up the Doctor’s cheery defiance, and
eventually falls
into despair.
If I had to nitpick, I would say that she might be just a little bit
too old for the role at the start of the play, but her performance is
good enough that you soon don’t care. And she’s perfect for
the more worn and experienced woman she becomes.

Shows why Chibnall's Timeless Child should be retconned.
Liar! It doesn’t show anything about retconning anything!
