Nearly twice that long. She was in ER for 13 years, from 1997
to 2009, 160 episodes in total (according to IMDB.com anyway).
That's just three years short of the show's full run - it
started in 1994 and ended in 2009.

IIRC she left and then returned before the show ended. She
definitely wasn't in the show for the full run... we used to
have it on here. (I think the missus wanted to be a nurse or
something.) Liz Corday leaving ER was BIG news at the time.

Of course, ER was a copy-cat of the UK series "Casualty"
(started in 1986 and is still going), including copying many
of the storylines, but Alex Kingston never appeared in that
    show.

Unfortunately, the missus liked that as well. She absolutely
    loved Charlie!

You're right - I'd forgotten that. She left in 2004 and then returned
for the final two episodes in 2009. So that means it was 9 years,
rather than the 13 I posted above.

It also wasn't quite 160 episodes. Looking through the IMBD.com list,
there are a few that say "credit only", so probably didn't actually
    appear on-screen in thosee episodes.

Yep. Charlie (played by Derek Thompson) was on the show from the start,

season 2 episodes of the Irish police drama "Blue Lights".

Well, he did play the "Casualty" role for 38 years (901 weekly
episodes), since the show started in 1986, plus appearing a few times
in the spin-off shows "Holby" / "Holby City" and "Holby Blue", and
wasn't in much else during that time.

Of course, that length of time is nearly a blink of an eye when compred
to the TV record holder: William Roache has played the role of Ken
Barlow in "Coronation Street" for 64 years (4783 semi-weekday
episodes), since that show started in 1960. He was in the very first
episode and still appears regularly. :-)

I think EPL is on an international break right now. I got up early (for
a weekend for me) to watch the Everton-Brentford match this
morning...only to find out that they won't play until the 23rd...and
nobody else in the EPL played today either.

    Spoiler

    .

    .

    .

    .

Parris is murdered in the first episode.

Technically yes, but the show (and its previous prequel "The Magpie
Murders") uses flashbacks and constantly switches to a previous era
with the same actors playing different characters, so Gattis does
    appear in later episodes too.

Of course, the whole point of a murder mystery show is that someone
gets murdered and the show is all about finding out who did it and why.

    Well...and I'll admit to a bias here being a big hockey fan...watching
the NHL isn't a bad thing; Winnipeg is playing rather inspired hockey at
the moment. And even though the EPL is on a break, I did manage to

    Exactly! ;-)

You'd want to be getting over there, there's a person posting
there who doesn't spell words correctly or put coherent
sentences together...! He needs sorting out.

Well, actually it's the same fella that does it here, so maybe
you'd best not be starting him off or we'll only end up with
    biblical quotes there too!

In all your ways pass to him and he will make the ice smooth...

I hate international breaks! This is the third one in

having to watch the Ice Hockey from the US instead for
    my Saturday night sports entertainment.

Well...and I'll admit to a bias here being a big hockey
fan...watching the NHL isn't a bad thing; Winnipeg is
playing rather inspired hockey at the moment. And even
though the EPL is on a break, I did manage to catch the
second half of a pretty decent League One match,
unfortunately I don't remember who was playing.

    Coonor McDavid meets Alphonso Davies.

I don't want to turn this place in to rec.sport.hockey but
#97 McDavid would smash him so far in to the boards Alphonso
would end up back in Germany!!!

Hmm! Would I be imitating someone if I were to type .....

    rec.sport.hockey is over
    .......................................>

    Exactly!

I wonder if Dannyboy Doggo ever skated in his life?

Or, as there are no corners... around the boards! ;-)

    That is decking humour.

Yesterday’s episode of ‘Richard Osman’s House of Games’ had
    the following question:

What links these names that have all had their vowels changed?
    Judea Whettikar
    Celon Bikar
    Tum Bikar
    Duvad Tannunt

    I know!

They've all been typed by someone with clumsy fingers.
    They're all British actors.
They've all been on more than one TV series.

    :-p

Too many of these quiz show questions have multiple correct answers,
but they usually disallow any except the single one they were
expecting. The UK quiz show "The 1% Club" is especially bad at having
    multiple possible correct answers.
