Without a primary, Kamala’s flip-flops are just lies

Republican attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris’s “radical” record have already been so successful that Harris is racing to flip-flop on everything she used to say she believes.

According to the New York Times, just this week, the Harris campaign,
but not Harris herself, said she no longer supports a ban on fracking,
no longer supports abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, no
longer supports mandatory gun buybacks, and no longer supports banning
private health insurance.

When asked to comment on the flurry of flip-flops, Harris campaign
spokesman Brian Fallon said, “Her years spent in law enforcement and her record in the Biden-Harris administration defy Trump’s attempts to
define her through lies.”

The problem is that everything Republicans are saying about Harris’s
record is true. She is on tape, multiple times, calling for a fracking
ban. Same with mandatory gun buybacks and banning private health
insurance. She even endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-VT) Medicare for
All bill, going as far as to thank him for his leadership on the matter.

And on “Abolish ICE,” Harris has a strong, established track record of backing legislation that defunds immigration law enforcement in favor of
the very nonprofit groups that encourage and facilitate illegal
immigration. In 2018, she encouraged her fellow senators to reject a
Trump administration request for additional funding for new Border
Patrol agents and ICE detention beds. And in 2019, she introduced
legislation that would have taken $220 million from ICE and given it to nonprofit groups that aid illegal immigrants.

These are just facts about Harris’s record, and as inconvenient as they
are, there are many, many more of them.

For example, Harris is on record supporting free healthcare for illegal immigrants. Does she still support that? We don’t know.

Harris is on record supporting the decriminalization of illegal border crossings. Does she still support that? We don’t know.

Same goes for supporting sanctuary city laws for illegal immigrants,
banning cash bail, banning plastic straws, and banning offshore drilling.

These are all dangerously radical liberal positions. Is Harris going to
run away from all of them? And if she does, why should any voter believe
her?

This is why the primary process is so important. If Harris hadn’t been
gifted the nomination on a silver platter, she would have had to earn
it. She would have had to make her case to Democratic primary voters.
She would have had to take a position on healthcare for illegal
immigrants and the banning of cash bail. She would have had to explain
her flip-flops on mandatory gun buybacks and fracking. Harris would have
been forced to go on record on all of these issues so that primary
voters could hold her accountable.

But now, Harris has bypassed all of that. She still has never won a
single Democratic primary. This may make it easier to flip-flop on every
belief she held in 2020, but it makes her new positions just that much
more unbelievable.

After all, this is a woman who lied for years about President Joe
Biden’s mental health. If she would lie to the public about that, why wouldn’t she also lie about her positions on fracking and banning
private health insurance?

In her own words, Harris said, “Yeah, I am a radical. I do believe that
we need to get radical.”

Radical is who she is. On that, believe her.
