Yes, the camera app is quite resource intensive so it can happen.

Nonsense. It is not normal and it does not happen even on much older
    iPhones, Something is definitely wrong.

Gotta love your absolute authority. lol.

And yet, before the days of optimised battery performance settings the one thing that regularly triggered unexpected battery shutdown was the camera. The camera app does draw resources.

I distinctly remember it happening on my SE. Especially if the weather was chilly.

First thing is a restart (=soft reset).

    I already did many times.

If can surely say that the battery is still good and all your data is in
the iCloud than you can force a factory reset. You will lose about
between 15 and 60 minutes depending on your set up to get everything
    going again.

Yes, the camera app is quite resource intensive so it can happen.

    How annoying. :(

Which particular apps is this happening with? And can you give an
example of how it affects said app? Generally, app developers can save
an app's state when the app gets suspended and then restore it the next
time it's active. So I have to wonder if what you are experiencing is
just an app that doesn't properly save and restore its state.
