Just downloaded and installed IOS 18 with no problems. I'm still checking things out, but already I can see some nice changes with the Photo's app.

I haven't checked out much, but I'm looking at my iPhone screen, on my
Mac, while the iPhone upgrades our watches. Convenient. I suspect that
I'll discover more features fairly soon.
Oh! I had to install Sequoia to do that. And...the iPhone is a XS Max,
so the good news is that it still gets new iOS upgrades. So far, so good
on everything, except I have one iPad that's too old to upgrade to the
    new paradigm.

I installed Sequoia too tonight, again with no issues. I saw the icon for
phone mirroring, but I haven't tried that out yet.

I just updated to iOS 17.7 on my $300 10th-generation iPad.
Let me see if iOS 18 has anything useful for it to add to it.

    https://www.macrumors.com/2024/09/16/ios-18-third-party-apps/
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 add several new features for third-party apps, such as
the option to create Control Center shortcuts that can be used in the
Control Center, added to the Lock Screen, or activated with the Action
Button. We've rounded up a list of third-party apps that have added support
    for ‌iOS 18‌ features.

Many of my apps went to dark on my home screen on the iPad but not iPhone. Looks kinda weird.

I finally gave into the urge for Airpod 2 Pro's - so I'll need iOS 18
for the full feature set. Likewise Sequoia on my iMac.
    The pods get here Friday.

So I'll try the pods with current OS' and then upgrade over the weekend.

Will be nice to mow the lawn while listening to music. I have an
electric lawnmower, but too noisy for music listening - that is have to
turn the volume up to probably harmful levels.

This isn't a macOS vs Windows or iOS vs Android thing.

I never install any major OS upgrade immediately after its release...

I’m using iOS 18. On the phone the weirdest thing is what they went and
done with the control center. Before when I finger flicked from the top to
turn Bluetooth on to listen to an audiobook in my vehicle before leaving my driveway it was more straightforward. Now I have to drill down a bit more
so it’s more complicated, but my connectable devices list is right there.
And it takes me to Bluetooth settings from that point to turn Bluetooth off
so I don’t have to back out and take a separate Settings path. So that feature works for me.

When there are issues with updates they don't happen to all updated
devices but some subset. In some cases it's a significant enough hit
that it makes the news ... and even then it's a relatively small
percentage of overall devices ... but a large number.

Don't recall any bad ones over the last few years.
