I've added to cme a small script to help maintain Standards-Version field in debian/control file.

The TL;DR version is

$ cme run update-standards-version -doc
This script updates control's Standards-Version and commit the change.
Before using this script, you must make sure that your package complies with new Debian policy.

example:
cme run update-standards-version

will commit with message: 'control: declare compliance with Debian policy {{source Standards-Version}}
'
