Hi!
This package pulls in Qt5/KDE5 and Qt6/KDE6 dependency trees, through
the styles plugins. I assume this is desirable to support the style
for old that have not yet been ported and new ones that have.
I was wondering though, whether perhaps this could be reorganized so
that if you do not have any Qt5/KD5 packages installed then to not get
that stack pulled in only due to this package?
Although I guess this might need some package splitting.
Sounds like an idea !
I’ve uploaded the split package (that will need to clear NEW) and the Qt5 support is now a recommended package that you’ll be able to remove if you like.
I’m not going to remove the Qt5/KF5 support from the dependency tree entirely just now. We do want it to just-work™ by default for people who don’t know what we’re talking about and there are still many Qt5/KF5 apps around, specially if you count
third party apps not shipped by Debian.
Happy new year !
