So what is the rule regarding ducking back out of the pit-entry lane ?
You'd think it would be similar to crossing the line of the pit exit.

But it seems to no longer be being mentioned at all .....

Don't the drivers cut across the pit entry line when they're coming onto
the pit straight at Brazil? I seem to recall a couple of other tracks
where the pit entry is pretty much on the racing line, but of course I
can't name them when I try to remember them. <sigh>

If I am correct, perhaps the rules are lass stringent about crossing the
pit entry then those referring to the pit exit. Don't know for sure,
    just a guess...

I thought it was odd too but when neither Palmer or DC on F1TV made a
fuss about it, I figured it must be fine. Well fine as in it wasn't
against the regulations, not fine as in a fine piece of strategy by the
    team :D

I can't help but ask myself what would have happened had it been
    Lewis that did it?

I'm not sure now but in the past....

No bollard no foul? I thought for sure Sainz would be penalised. <shrug>

There are these things associated with every racing event called the "Supplementary Regulations". They are used to defined things unique to a particular track that aren't listed in the general rule book.

All I can think is that because of the particular layout of the track,
no one anticipated the need for such a rule, and it's easy to see from
his lap time that he didn't gain an advantage, so...
