can do this season, they may as well plan for the future with new blood. >>> What it achieves is that they get to assess Lawson and acclimatise him

to give another driver a chance.

I think Dani has had some great drives and is probably unlucky not to
have picked up more wins, but that's how it often goes. Unlike many
others, though, I think he can hold his head up high and with a glowing
reputation amongst fans and the paddock alike.

Yes, he can hold his head up high! He deserved it!

Absolutely. He's been one of the best contributors of both skill and character to the forumula on my living memory, one of my favourites.
But it's best to keep things that way and not have a long drawn-out
fall from grace. And I think the last couple of years has been part of
that fall already. Stop it now.

I am sad to see him go, he actually has a personality, and, in his Red
Bull days, was one of the most exciting drivers on the grid.

I can understand the team long term strategy, but a bit of finesse in
    change would be nice.
    This is business, I know.

Strange business, for sure. Their inexplicable decisions don't end at
Dani Ric. The elephant in the room is surely 2 more years of Perez. Who
I also think is a great driver, but probably better as the driver to
learn from in the lower team rather than someone whose day job is
bringing in double-digit points every race weekend. At the moment he's
the driver who has cost Red Bull the constructor's championship. 6 good
races does not a winning season make.

Several tens of millions of dollars bring a good deal of forgiveness.

Really? He's had his chance. And his second chance. And his third

You think he should have won those races to get and keep a job ?

Most seem to think he did pretty well.

I think he did pretty well, but I also think he's had his chances. I
*don't* think bringing Lawson in will magically improve things (and he
may actually do worse for a while), but I think they have to look
    medium-long term rather than short-term.

As Phil says, new blood is a good thing.

So it should be applied to all drivers in the field, who haven't done
as well as Lawson did in the first ever 5 races ?

    A bit harsh.

    Straw man.

    Yes, I agree.

But, Riciardo is one of only three drivers from RB academy who
actually had success in F1 (podiums and victories). Other two are
    Vettel and Verstappen.

So, Dani is not only great person, but great driver too. He deserved a
little bit more respect from RB. What will this mid season change
    bring to RB? Nothing!

(and I was never RB supporter, but I respect good teams and drivers)

Seems you are referring to LAW, who this thread is primarily about. But
not very clear who you are writing about because if LAW your responses
are irrational and harsh as he has done better than many other drivers

If you are in fact referring to RIC, then sad but agreed.
