Meh. Pass since I don't want to buy the base game. If its base game was
    free, then sure.

It's Day five of the Epic Game Store "Hey-We-Got-You-To-Visit-With- The-Promise-Of-A-Free-Game-So-Might-As-Well-Buy-Something-

I'll be AFK when the freebie is actually released so I'm posting a bit
early; therefore, I've had to use my psychic powers to predict what
game they're offering. We'll see how accurate that prediction was in a
    few hours.

We've had four games already, and what games they've been (no really,
what games were they? I can't remember; they were pretty forgettable offerings). But I'm sure today's game will make us rethink what it
means to get a free game from Epic!

    And that game is (maybe)...

    - Dark and Darker (with Legendary Status DLC) https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/dark-and-darker-qa-dark-and-darker-legendary-status-a83d59
    https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/dark-and-darker-qa-c1e629
Somebody at Epic must love dungeon crawlers; this is
like the third or fourth one we've gotten in recent
history. "Dark and Darker" is an online PVP game; a
first-person dungeon crawler where you need worry not
only about the various monsters and traps but also
the other players. The base game is free; the
'Legendary Status" DLC adds a variety of QOL features
that they ripped out of the base game to make you pay
for it later. Mechanically, the game itself is fine,
except that the community suffers from the usual
online toxicity and the focus on PVP strips away a
lot of the fun that you'd otherwise get in a game
like this. Overall, a low-average game. But I guess
if you like online play or really love dungeons,
    maybe pick this one up?

You know how it goes; you've got 24 hours to claim this one before its
gone. Remember, whether you like the game or not is unimportant.
Whether you WANT it or not is unimportant. What is important is The
    Number. Take the game!

Feel free to comment on my predictive abilities. Was I right? If I was
wrong, well, know that I tried, and anyway I'm sure that Ant will
swoop in and provide the correct information. If I was right, also
know this: tomorrow's sports-ball scores are three to nought, to the
    home team. You're welcome.

I am a bit confused by this one. I was able to add 'Dark and Darker'
and also 'Dark and Darker - Legendary Status' to my account. I am not
sure if I have a full game here or not.

Ooh, you're right. I thought base game wasn't free. Thanks. I got both. :)

The base game is free. It's a free-to-play game. There is freeness in
the game that is free. You have free freedom to play for free this
free game that doesn't cost anything because it's a free free-to-play
    game that is free.

It's the DLC that costs. Except not today, because it also free, being
a free-giveaway for a usually-not-free but today free DLC to an
otherwise free game. Which is to say, that for 24 hours you can get
the free base game and the DLC for free because both are free due to
this free give-away. That's some real freedom!

And now I've said free so often the word has lost all meaning and
sounds weird. Free. Freeee. Free. Free.

Do you want Fries with that?
