New or old, doesn't matter. Whether it's an old classic you never got
your chance to play, or the latest release (or even some game just
announced that won't actually be out for a year or three), which games
    tops your list?

Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo

Yeah, it a dumb title. But hopefully the game will turn out good. It
won't be out until 2025 though. It should play like an old school
    dungeon crawler like Wizardry.

Speaking of Wizardry... I wouldn't mind playing the Wizardry 1 remake
    either.

Empire of the Ants (2024), but I can't play it due to my old PC. :P

Given the nature of the newsgroup, obviously PC games are preferred,
but so long as you limit it to digital games (no tabletop here, but
arcade machines are fine ;-), we wanna hear it.

So, this is a tough one for me, since most games I WANT I usually get
in short order. A month ago, "Mechwarrior 5: Clans" probably would
have topped that list. Then I bought it (and played it), so it got
    bumped.

Of those that are left, well, I have a hard time choosing, so I'm
going to immediately break my own rules about it being ONE game and
    offer a selection.

    - "Kingdom Come: Deliverance II" is definitely up there, even
though I know very little about the game other than I quite
    enjoyed the original.

    - "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024", even though right now it's
just too buggy and expensive for a game I know I won't play
    very much.

    - The next five years of expansions for "American Truck
Simulator" rank pretty highly. I want to roam the entire
country and waiting for the next state to drop every other
    month is /agonizing/

    - Oh, and "Bedlam 2: Absolute", a sequel to 1996 DOS shooter
which apparently came out but there's very little information
about the game and I've never seen it. There's a gap in my
    collection. It hurts, it hurts!

Oh, and so many more. My wishlist is overflowing, Santa!

What's on the top of your most-wanted?

+1 for MSFS2024, first wish would be a machine capable of playing it and
the peripherals to fully enjoy flying. Second, would be the time to play something like this. Then, third would be the game :)

Looking back over 2024 I enjoyed Puzzle Agent and Puzzle Agent 2 by
Telltale Games the most. Some fond memories playing with the family.
Looking through their catalogue I'd probably select Sam & Max, since we
also liked the original Hit the Road. Perhaps Wolf Among Us.

If you have an easy weekend coming up you could give PA a go.

Oh, wow. That is incredibly old-school. It looks a bit more like
classic "Might & Magic" to me than "Wizardry", though. I mean, it has
an outdoors! Although I guess Wizardry did get an outdoors in the
later iterations. Still, I always associate it with dark dungeons
    first and foremost.

It makes me think most of Wizardry 7.

For a game that looks like classic Might & Magic (if you mean 3-5)
check out Legends of Amberland. *That* is Might and Magic. And yes, it
too has a stupid title. :-P

As fond as I am of games like "Dragon Wars", "Bards Tale" and "Might & >Magic", I happily dropped tile-based CRPGs as soon as the alternatives
became available. The stepped-based movement always rubbed me the
wrong way. I never really felt an urge to go back.

I am fine with both methods. Might & Magic X used tile step based
movement and people bitched about it so I think most people feel as
    you do.

You probably know about this one already, but if not, take a look at
Islands of the Caliph; it's probably up your alley >https://store.steampowered.com/app/1845670/Islands_of_the_Caliph/

I do know of this one. In fact, I mentioned this one in a previous
thread awhile back and you added it to your wishlist. :)

But yes, that games also interests me, thank you.

The Wolf Among Us is my favourite of the Telltale story/adventure games.
A lot of that has to do with the setting of fairytale characters that
live amongst us. There's just something I really like about it. The good
thing is that there's supposed to be a sequel coming out sometime next
year. Finger crossed we don't end up with a repeat of New Tales From the Borderlands!

Thanks for the recommendation. Added to wishlist.

I heard something about that. Of the 3 original co-founders, 2 left in
dispute with the third. Then Telltale was dissolved or something. Now it
is restarting with the 2 founders that left. Much drama...
