It's another Thursday, which means it's another day when I gotta open
up the EGS client and check for a free game. Who knew accumulating
free games would be so much work?!? I wonder if I can get Epic to pay
me for all these announcements I make to Usenet on their behalf...
Anyway, what do we get from Epic today? Why, its...
* Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria >https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/the-lord-of-the-rings-return-to-moria-f01344
Well, lookit that; a free game on Epic that isn't from a
tiny Indie developer or several years old. I'd almost
forgotten they could give away stuff like that. The game
itself... it's fine. It's another in a long line of first-
person survival games (you know the type; start naked and
build your way up) and -other than its license- isn't
anything special. If you've ever wanted to play a survival
game, this one is as good as any. It's a little bit grindy
(but then, so are all survival games) but the 'mining tech'
is neat and its limited enough that you won't feel too
overwhelmed. But if you're already burned out on the genre,
this game won't reinvigorate your love for it.
You've got a week to grab this one. I think it's at least worth a
look, but make your own decision. Epic isn't paying me... yet. ;-)

By one damned minute sir. Have you no sense of decency?
