* Asterix & Obelix XXL Romastered >https://store.steampowered.com/app/1261520/Asterix__Obelix_XXL_Romastered/
I can imagine this one won't be popular amongst the American
readers, since I don't think Asterix & Obelix have made much
of an impression on western shores. But if you're from JB3G6
Europe, you're probably quite familiar with this duo. XXL GKDIK
Romastered is a surprisingly fun adaptation of the comic
(techically, its a remaster of an older game, but I never
played that one so this version was new to me). I always
enjoyed the Gaulic duo so playing them in high-res was a
treat. 8J7WE
* Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition >https://www.gog.com/en/game/baldurs_gate_enhanced_edition
This one showing up as a freebie won't surprise you if you F485A
read my earlier "Prime Gaming" post. I won't bother trying 494281
to describe the game to you again; you all know what it is.
If you haven't played it yet, grab it now. It's a classic
for a reason. CBB8CED
Note: This game is on GOG, and its servers are a bit overloaded.

One of my favorite games of all time but I own it already so someone

Looking forward to your next giveaway.

Oooh, we're neck-and-neck-and-neck (or whatever passes for necks on

Oh my gosh! A lurker! Come look everybody; a lurker has stuck their
head up! Feel free to point and stare, it's okay! That's what they're
here for! ;-)
But seriously, you're welcome to the game (and the group). I hope you
have fun with it. If you happen to play it, come back and tell us all
what you think of it.

Lurking for a long long time in quiet appreciation of this group and >posting very rarely!
I do not understand this term, "quiet". ;-)
But watch out: commenting on Usenet is like eating Pringles. Once you
start, you can't stop.*
Played the original a lot, it's one of my favourite games...but I
haven't tried any of the Beamdog remakes. I will do as you asked once I >give it a try.
It's pretty much the same game. I think the most notable new feature
was built-in support for wide-screen monitors, but otherwise I recall
the experience (I played the game back in... 2018?) being largely the
same as the '98 version. There is some additional/new content
(including an absolutely terrible intro movie that compared quite
poorly to the original) but the new quests and characters were largely unnoticable on the whole.
Personally, as a GAME I preferred the original version, just because
the intro movie was that annoying (and because I'm something of a
purist). But it can be hard to get it Baldur Gate 98 running well on
modern hardware, so despite my qualms, I tend to recommend people use
the Enhanced Edition. It's not bad; in fact, if you loved the original
I'm fairly sure you'll like this one too. I just think the older
version is ever-so-slightly better.
Thanks again for the game and for the seasonal kindness in general.
Hang around; there's more games to come! ;-)
* Or it would be if Pringles were crisps worth eating. Frankly, when
it comes to Pringles, I enjoy munching on the tube more than ingesting
the actual product. But their marketing slogan is memorable ;-)

I have the DVD version. One disc. Made the whole thing far more playable.
I had the five-disc version, which came in a cardboard sleeve with
spots for six disk held together with glue that got all over the
discs. I remember being royally pissed off that Bioware (or Interplay) >cheaped out by using a cardboard disc holder rather than splurging for

I still have my original discs. The cardboard sleeve is long gone, and
good riddance!

I have the same version. I just opened the box, and the disks are
spotless, yours must have come with French Glue.
(A play on the whole American "these colors don't run" thing, presumably their glue doesn't either.)

I think they knew they would put out an expansion if the game sold well,
and they made a cd holder with space for it just in case.
