• Note : Latest Fedora XFCE Spin Will NOT Install in VirtualBox

From c186282@21:1/5 to All on Sun May 11 02:16:22 2025
It's CONVINCED I have a 32 bit system. TWO variants
would not install. All VB packages are up to date.

I've had similar probs with Fedora before.

NEED an RPM distro right now. Downloading
    OpenSUSE ... but it's HUGE, 4+ gig.

    Which architecture?
IIRC i686 (and the older stuff like i386 too) are NOT supported by
    Fedora anymore.
Even if you have an x86_64 compatible processor (almost all from the
last 20 years are), but run an 32 bit guest system (e.g. i686), you
cannot run an x86_64 (amd64) OS in a virtual machine.

At a given point my processor (early pentium IIRC) was 64 bit but could
only run a 32 bit VB

    This could be your issue

    It's an ordinary x86x64 laptop.

ANYway, DID install OpenSUSE - but it was a bit
too pokey and, surprisingly, didn't have some dev
    apps I wanted.

RE-Did ... this time Fedora LXDE. THAT installed
perfectly and is a lot snappier too.

So, now I have my RPM installation, handily as
    a VM.

Tomorrow, FreeBSD to be installed on one of those
BMax mini-PCs. Did use my newest one, an N-150, to
replace three older units. However this left me
with the older units. So, let's put some neat
    stuff ON them :-)

Wait i had the same problem years ago when i was like 12 years old.
The problem as nothing to do with Fedora or Virtual Box, this appends in Virtual Box when you don't have Virtualization enabled on your bios.
    Did you enable it?
