We've both been posting to Usenet for a very long time
I've been on Usenet even before you saw me in alt.home.repair.
Me too. I was just using a.h.r as the example of where I "met" you.
Steve helped me find a nondescript pool store, for example, where I still
get my HASA chlorine and muriatic acid from to this day - thanks to Steve.
I was on Usenet using SunOS computers (before Solaris) using tin & rn.
It's been a long time using nntp for this long-retired aging octogenarian.
It's interesting though that folks like Jolly Roger have been on Usenet
just as long - where years ago I saw Jolly Roger attack someone saying that Apple had so many more apps than Google had for Android and that justified Jolly Roger viciously (and sadistically, actually) attacking that poster.
Have you ever noticed that folks like Jolly Roger immediately attack people simply for saying a statement of fact about Apple that they don't like?
actually remember sms in alt.autos.toyota from several years before.
Honestly I can't say what year, but likely around the mid to late
1990's. I got my first 1989 Toyota Camry in 1995. I got my first
personal computer in 1994 when we had to use dial-up modems to logon to
AOL. I started looking up ways to repair my Camry and discovered
Usenet and alt.autos.toyota. Even then sms had all the answers as he
does now...
I used to be famous on the Toyota and Bimmer websites for posting the best repairs as I autopsied every part. Funny thing... on the Toyota the only
things I need to do were cooling systems, brakes, clutches, etc.
But on the bimmer.... and beemer... OMG.... there's no dearth of repairs!
When I left, I kept getting mails from the admins asking me if I was ok.
They thought I died (you thought I died once also, as I recall).
I gave the cars away so there were no more repair DIYs to write for them.
Now I write for Amazon, so to speak, as I'm trying to up my 'compensation
from only up to $100K/year to unlimited by doing product reviews for them.
:)
I'll spend more time reviewing stuff as they get more expensive (like
laptops and desktop PCs, and even iPhones if they give me some to test).
One thing you must admit about me is I make mistakes. Not many. But I
make them. We both agree on that, right?
Everyone does.
Well, I post a lot. And I post a lot of detail. And that detail is often repeated in subsequent posts. So I can make mistakes in that, particularly
the Apple trolls love to pounce when I don't clarify every sentence every
time.
It's like I say Apple was accused of a crime.
And then they say that Apple wasn't tried for it.
And then I say Apple pleaded guilty to reduced charges.
And then they try to claim Apple wasn't accused of the crime so therefore
Apple was innocent all along of any wrongdoing... (and so on, forever).
With these Apple trolls like Alan Browne, Alan Baker, Jolly Roger, nospam, Lewis, Chris, Hemidactylus, Joerg Lorenz, et. al, you have to have your
lawyer write every line or they'll play games with the fact you didn't
repeat everything from the start.
Have you noticed, for example, how Alan Baker loves to play games with your words, badgolferman?
Another thing you must admit about me is that I accept them. Openly. >>Publicly. You know that to be true also.
You do. But that is a rare attribute, especially here in misc.phone.mobile.iphone. I can immediately think of a few people who
could use that virtue.
Well, I'd love to ask nospam about his "nobody needs it" and "nobody wants
it" for a ton of things that Apple eventually got around to implementing.
I think the reason the Apple trolls can't admit when they're wrong is
mostly that they're always wrong - since they're really low IQ people.
They can't discern a fact from an assessment of that fact, and they believe everything Apple tells them (e.g., that Apple is "safer" than Android).
They also have been told their entire lives that they're stupid.
But Apple loves them.
They fit in with Apple zealots.
You don't fit in with them. Neither does Steve. Nor Ant.
That's because you are not Apple zealots.
It's an "us versus them" mentality with the Apple trolls like Alan Browne.
They can't even bring themselves to call anyone who tells the truth about
Apple to be a person. Seriously. They are that childish in thinking.
Have you, for example, ever noticed Alan Brown calls you and me an "it"?
He thinks that calling us an "it" makes us non human to him.
That way Alan Browne can ignore any truth about Apple products we say.
Seriously. I study Jolly Roger & Alan Browne in particular.
Have you noticed that Alan Browne calls you and me "it" to dehumanize us?
That mistake I admitted and apologized for, and I even explained it,
which, interestingly enough, is the same randomization that I
explained just moments ago on my header obfuscation.
You did explain it and eventually apologized for it.
Yes. I did. Would nospam do that? I doubt it. Would Alan Baker admit he
didn't even know what bimmers & beemers are called in racing circuits when
the entire point of the name was precisely due to racing of motorcycles.
How can a person claim to be knowledgeable in these fields when they don't
know what EVERYONE knows and I don't even claim to be in racing circles.
They're that ignorant of EVERYTHING.
Which is an important point actually - as these Apple trolls like Alan
Browne get their sense of self worth from things like Apple white papers.
Have you ever noticed that Alan Browne LOVES to tout Apple white papers?
Have you ever wondered why?
I did.
I realized that these Apple trolls have been told they're stupid their
entire lives but in Apple circles, Apple (effectively) tells them they are utter genius's.
Ever wonder why Alan Browne revels in resale value of Apple old phones?
Ever think of why Alan Browne revels in Apple encryption white papers?
These Apple religious trolls get much of their self worth from the long
lines outside of Apple stores re-affirming their belief system that says
they "belong" to the clique of people "lucky enough" to own Apple product.
Their ego being tied up in Apple is part of why they're Apple trolls.
Have you ever noticed that is inherent in all the familiar Apple trolls.
But not in you.
Not in me.
Not in Ant.
etc.
Have you noticed that you're *not* in their I-Love-Everything-About-Apple clique where they actually attack you for saying truths about Apple?
You see, I know the value of a Usenet post isn't in the wrapping
paper. The value is inside the box.
Sometimes the wrapping is useful if you want to find it later.
Searching on headers works better than searching on content. And now
that Google Groups has dropped out of Usenet that's even more so.
Heh heh heh... the whole point is NOT to be able to find me by a machine.
The funny thing is I can't even find my own tutorials from twenty years ago
as, truth be told, I don't even look at what the header says.
I don't even know the name I'm posting under as it doesn't show up in my
gVim text editor until I send the article out - and it's too late by then.
The only thing that matters to me is the value of the gift in the package.
But what you do NOT doubt, is that I speak fact, and, if, perchance,
I make a mistake, and if that mistake is pointed out to me, I openly
admit it.
Don't I?
Do Apple trolls have the same ethical code of honor as I do,
badgolferman?
According to them, they are NEVER wrong.
What I find interesting is they don't own the intelligence to disassemble
an argument. They devolve into kindergarten personal attacks instead.
Have you ever noticed that in any of the well-known Apple trolls?
You say a fact about Apple.
They don't like that fact.
So they attack YOU instead.
Have you ever noticed that trend in these Apple zealot trolls badgolferman?
