The good news is LocalSend works out of the box. No setup thinking needed.
However, I agree most of the time we don't need it for Android since we're mostly transferring files to and from a PC which is trivial with Android.
*The problem that needed it was to go from my Android to my iPad.*
Try that trick sometime. It's not fun. Nothing with iOS is fun.
However, "Eli the Bearded" gave an Android-to-Android use model for
LocalSend which was rather neat given the problem he was solving.

When he travels, Elijah has two Android devices, one which has a great
camera, the other a large amount of storage. So he takes pictures all day
with one Android and then transfers the DCIM folder en masse to the other.
The only requirement is they need to run LocalSend on the same network.
Since Android-to/from-PC is so trivial, I think that device-to-device use
model is the only one that might be practical for Android to/from anything.
For example, I might want to transfer a folder from my Android to my iPad.
Anyway, since every post I write should benefit people forever, if anyone
needs the APK, here are some links you can download now to get LocalSend.
