Given the lack of traffic, does it matter? The last non ad here was
December 2024. I think it is safe to say there is no discussion being interfered with

That's exactly the kind of attitude that hurts usenet. Putting more ads
here only kills it even more. If someone happens on this newgroup,
they're going to think "Oh this is just for spam" and never come back.
Why not treat it and make it the way you'd want it to be? You don't
actually want ads everywhere, do you?

Killing usenet, it is almost dead. I posted adverts here because there
was no traffic. It is NOT SPAM as it is related to the group topic. Spam
would be me advertising a hotel or something.

I understand your issue but as long as it is BBS related, it is not any harm

Cheers, and thanks. I, for one, will appreciate it. It's really nice
seeing these groups being used as intended, imo. Probably because I'm
set on using old hardware with all these services.

I use old or low power machine for anything bbs related. Main bbs is on a Pi4, I have 3 32 bit dells that handle other bits.

And I moved the group to my bbbs setup :)

Very cool. My BBS itself runs on something modern-ish. It's in a VM on
an old 2012 Mac Mini. Otherwise, I'm computing on Atari 8bits,
Commodores, and a MacSE. When I want to run old X86 stuff, I use the 486
core on the MiSTer. Recently got APRSDos running on that! RXing and
    TXing packets and everything.

I also run my whole network and the Pi's off a solar battery, not off the mains at all. I have an old CP/M machine that I am toying with booting up to see if it will work. Then who knows what I will do :)

Which CP/M machine and what software do you have? I keep wanting to do something with CP/M but just don't know what! With most computers, I've
always usually watched demos, BBSed, did a little bit of art stuff, and
read text files. When I say BBSed, I mean anything involving a terminal,
which was always most fun for me. I don't think I have anything that
runs CP/M and has a serial port, though. Wonder if there any puzzle
    games for it.

Did Infocom's text games originally run on CP/M?

Not sure about originally, but I'm sure they do run on CP/M as they run
on everything else :). That's not the sort of thing I'd have fun
    running, though.

Sord Computer Corp M223 from 1989's it was a brute of a machine. I had their own Disc unit as well. I was one of the few people to have bought one in Ireland
