ôThe Viewö host Whoopi Goldberg ù with an assist from cohost Joy Behar ù suggested that entrepreneur Elon Musk and Vice President-elect JD Vance were plotting a hostile takeover to gain control of the White House.

During ThursdayÆs broadcast of the ABC midday talk show, Goldberg wondered about the amount of influence Musk was having on policy as TrumpÆs
    inauguration approaches.

Noting that she was not the only person questioning ôwho is in charge,ö she added, ôIÆve been saying it for a while. IÆve been saying that Elon Musk believes heÆs president. I do.ö

ôWell, youÆve been calling him vice president,ö Behar interjected.

ôI called him vice president, I called him president, because I donÆt know
what JD is doing,ö Goldberg continued. ôI hardly ever ù I donÆt ù I donÆt remember the last time we even talked about JD.ö

ôHeÆs planning the presidency when they get rid of Trump,ö Behar said.

ôSo you think itÆs Musk ù Musk-Vance?ö Goldberg asked.

    ôItÆs possible,ö Behar replied.

Goldberg then turned to the camera, addressing Trump directly despite the
fact that she still refuses to say his name aloud: ôHey, You-Know-Who, stay away from the stairways.ö

By the time the show came back from commercial break, Goldberg had apparently thought better of suggesting that someone might try to kill Trump and take control of the presidency.

ôOkay, I need to clean something up,ö she said. ôBecause my cat lays in wait for me on my stairs all the time and thatÆs what I was referring ù I was thinking of that, I wasnÆt trying to indicate that they were actually
standing there with their legs out, hoping he would trip.ö

ôNo one wants anything done to the president,ö cohost Sunny Hostin added.

ôIt was light-hearted and itÆs the holidays, come on,ö she complained. ôMy goodness!ö

ôWe did not mean that anybody should hurt the president,ö Hostin said again.

Critics quickly pointed out the fact that ôThe Viewö falls under ABCÆs ônewsö division ù and that the network just agreed on Saturday to shell out millions over ôThis Weekö anchor George StephanopoulosÆ on-air false claims that President-elect Donald Trump had been found ôliable for rapeö in the E. Jean Carroll case.

ôFresh off a $15 million defamation settlement, ABC allows The View to fantasize about assassination plots against President-elect Trump,ö Chad Gilmartin posted.

JD Vance would be able, if President Trump were unable to perform
the duties of President. Musk can only hope to be some sort of
    advisor.

During ThursdayÆs broadcast of the ABC midday talk show, Goldberg wondered >about the amount of influence Musk was having on policy as TrumpÆs >inauguration approaches.

Here is when Musk can have some degree of power. He can lobby to
have certain actions taken. As anyone can. But here's the difference:
Musk will have greater access to the President than the average
    person.

Noting that she was not the only person questioning ôwho is in charge,ö she >added, ôIÆve been saying it for a while. IÆve been saying that Elon Musk >believes heÆs president. I do.ö

There is nothing to support such a position. It's reasonable to
believe he will have some degree of influence. But that isn't even the
same area code as being President.

ôWell, youÆve been calling him vice president,ö Behar interjected.

ôI called him vice president, I called him president, because I donÆt know >what JD is doing,ö Goldberg continued. ôI hardly ever ù I donÆt ù I donÆt >remember the last time we even talked about JD.ö

So learning the Constitution wasn't a part of their education?
Musk can never hold either office. He can't be President as he wasn't
born an American citizen. And anyone who cannot be President cannot be
    Vice President.
This is typically taught in sixth grade.

Goldberg then turned to the camera, addressing Trump directly despite the >fact that she still refuses to say his name aloud: ôHey, You-Know-Who, stay >away from the stairways.ö

She wasn't talking about her cat. It's far more plausible she was
trying to be "edgy" with a lame joke. She failed.

By the time the show came back from commercial break, Goldberg had apparently >thought better of suggesting that someone might try to kill Trump and take >control of the presidency.

It's clear she wasn't actually suggesting anyone should try to
    harm anyone.

But it's clear Whoopi's statement wasn't intended as a news bite.
It's obvious she was trying to make a joke. And, as is more than norm
with her than not, it failed.
She has always done well enough as an actress. But she was never
    very good at stand-up.

How could she possibly think Musk could be president? Everybody knows
    where he was born.

    Besides "Whoppie is a `useful idiot`"?

    Seriously, she's borderline mentally retarded.

She wasn’t when she had her own one on one interview show all those many years ago. She was quite engaging.
