    In Remembrance of Hawk Hubbard
    ----------

Hawk Hubbard was the very first node on Sp00knet. He was 700:100/1, with the main hub being 700:100/0. Now Hawk decided to go with other networks, other than Sp00knet, however he was a great inspiration for the development of our network. This past year he has passed on to new things, but he will be remembered for many years to come. He wanted Sp00knet to be more elite, allowing only very few boards on Sp00knet, but the PHATstar team chose to make it somewhat easier to get accepted, which made him part company, but if it wasn't for him who knows what would have happened with the idea of a Sp00knet. Hawk will be missed and I don't think anything or anyone can take his place. His board, Piranha Black Flag, has been featured in mainstream magazines of the style that you would find in book stores. Hawk Hubbard was with ACiD (the artpack group), and he kept the spirit of ACiD alive until now.

Hawk was a musician in his spare time, and if anyone can be said to be part of the BBS Scene it would have been him, giving a large part of his life to his bulletin board system hobby.

He will be greatly missed by many.

    Cheers!

    That is a nice story!

I could tell that Hawk was a conservative by the things that he used to say. He gave subtle clues about it while mostly avoiding politics. But hell yea, he was one of us.

This story that you shared confirms it because look at the topics we talk on about on here. Lefties don't like it that much! :)

Agreed and props to the master sysop - Hawk was wonderful to SO many people in the BBS community; I thought him and I had a special relationship, and we did - but after his passing I've heard stories from *EVERYONE* that he was accepting, helpful and excited to talk to SO MANY in our community.

Hawk is a sysop, a musician, a mentor, brother, friend and r0ckstar. Didn't know he was node 2 on sp00k - but it don't surprise me one bit.

hip hip hooray, hawk. hip hip hooray.
