I have an IDE-to-CompactFlash adapter. I plan to use it to build a no-disk unit soon. Boot from the CompactFlash disk, and use RAMdisk for everything that needs to be volatile.
Can anyone say MP3 player and NFS to the file server? :)
:-) I have a machine here running LVM/RAID and serving out all my .ogg
files via NFS and HTTP. But it boots from H/D, not C/F. Some day I will build it's replacement, which *will* boot from C/F!
I've always wanted to build a cluster, tho I never did it simply
because I couldn't think of a use for one. What do you do with it?
Actually, I don't use it for anything any more. I built it just to see
how it worked. What did I do with it? Play with this:

But in fact, the spec of my cluster was so poor I got better performance
just using my non-parallel workstation. Like I said, the object of the exercise was the exercise itself.
