• Tossing fidonet mail for my point system fails

From David Gonzalez@21:3/188 to All on Thu Oct 17 21:23:46 2024

    Hello everybody!

I was setup as a fido point and I did my setup according on Mystic but I'm getting these messages when tossing mail from fidonetI also have a fsxnet node
number, same credentials, same everything and fsxnet works fine, fido pkts are the ones causing me issues, any idea?.

I can't bring the debug level any higher.

    Import from d:\bbs\mystic\echomail\in\
    Importing 0008dbaa.pkt (3:633/2744 to 3:633/2744.188)
PKT Password found but no configuration for 3:633/2744

What does this mean?: PKT Password found but no configuration for
3:633/2744, copnfiguration for what?, the PKT or the node or what?.

Everything is setup correctly AFAIK on mystic, same as I have for my node on fsxnet.

    David

It sounds like your link has a packet password set for your node.

If you have bad .pkt files from your link you can inspect them and you'll see the password near the beginning of the file in between some binary data.

You can either set a packet password for that link and try tossing those packets agian or ask your link to disable the packet password.

Your outbound packets to that link may also be failing to toss at the remote link because of a missing packet password.

It indeed does and I have it set on his Echomail Node definition

Did check and by the top is the right password for the PKT.

You can either set a packet password for that link and try tossing

I might have to ask him to disable the PKT pass for a while, it's a weird behavior tho.

Your outbound packets to that link may also be failing to toss at the remote link because of a missing packet password.

Probably, I have not sent anything to him for Fidonet, but have to try that too.

    Thanks

The node above should be 3:633/2744 not 3:633/2744.188?

Also check the case of @FIDONET. @fidonet is usually lower case although I am not sure if that makes a difference.

Good catch... Cganged it but when I ran mutil Import only netmails were imported, weird thing happened, I had to move the .pkts to the unsecure dir and they were processed but not imported.

Also changed that with the above result.

Thanks for your advice, at least now it's moving a but further. I might be missing some configuration on Mystic or mutil.ini somewhere.

BTW: This would explain our session issues when me polling your fido address.

I cant test at the moment, because I'm getting a connection refused when polling you...

Be sure that you have a secure connection with your link and that incoming mail is not placed in your unsecure inbound.

Generaly speaking, most tossers won't toss incoming mail from your insecure inbound, only netmail.

Yes, I had that big mistake, for some reason I put my point address instead of yours, so my bad, but all good now.

Yup!, sorry about that, was testing something and I killed my mis server, it's back online now tho.

I also tried sending some netmails to Nick Andre through you but I have issues seeing Netmails here in GoldED, not really sure how to setup that area, so I have to login to the BBS.

    Still figuring it all out...

    Thanks for jumping in :)
