The maintainer of proxmox-ve helper scripts is going into hospice care...

    from https://github.com/tteck/Proxmox/discussions/4009

    Dear Community,

I wanted to share a personal update. I've recently transitioned into hospice care and, as a result, will be slowing down the development of this project. While I'm grateful for the progress we've made together, I recognize that I'll be taking a step back for some rest and reflection during this time.

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and understanding. Your dedication to the community and this project means the world to me, and I am grateful for each of you.

    Warm regards,
    tteck/tteckster

Oh wow, I haven't read posts in some time so forgive for not being caught
up. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you get the much needed rest
    you deserve.

Oh whew! Hard to hear that anyway, but from one within the BBS community would hit more closely to home.. Glad it isn't.

Whew .. glad I'm not the only one lol! I thought .. wow what a re-entrance into posting on the FTN's I just laid out there. (Forehead smack). Still super sad though. I haven't tried Proxmox yet, I've been considering that or Docker now that i'm up to 3 BBSes I'm running plus other mysteries in the works. I'm sure I'll be missing the contributions of a very helpful man.

Yeah. Pretty big blow for PM coumminty.

I'm fully sold on ProxMox as a homelab (aka BBS hosting) solution.
Esceially if you run them on Linux containers (shared core). Backup
product is easy to setup, and I can put the Admin dashboard on my
TailScale VPN for access from anywhere. And I'm running it on pretty old hardware and a bunch of cheap disks.

Thanksfully, the project has moved to a community space so others can continue on with it.

I wish there were as much development of apps on LXC as there are on docker - it's not as huge deal, as I set up an Ubuntu LXC and have it running docker and portainer, but it would be nice to be able to manage them in the Proxmox UI.

Proxmox does what I need it to do, and it's lenient regarding hardware - that's the reason I'm running it instead of Nutanix or VMWare. My primary VM server is an old Thinkpad laptop!

Although, I'm tempted by a Dell 5070 Micro I saw online for $179 - it's got 8 GB of RAM (I have 32 left over that would work in it) and it supports NVMe and SATA. 8 cores, 8 threads, 2.00 ghz core speed, 4.20 turbo speed, would make a heck of a ProxmoxBox.

I'll have to check it out soon. Been pre-occupied with other BBS stuff as of late but do need to eventually get my PI5 I was so excited to purchase, put together (months later). You do have a nice setup, loving Goldmine!
