I answered this in SYNCHRONET. No need to freak out every time one system is down. Most likely the binkp.net service was down for a day or something.
You can easily bypass this third party connection method by making direct links with the systems you're trying to connect to. By that, I mean polling them directly with /their/ address, and not using the binkp.net service.
Then, when the connection isn't being made, it's only between you and the other system.
