Test messages are not encouraged or discouraged in FSX_GEN as far as I
FSX_TST - Test messages and other experimentation is welcome here! Messages using the subject of 'Test' *should* receive an automated response from a roBOT. Humans can also appear magically with reports too. "Your mileage may vary. Offer not available at Vanda Station"
FSX_GEN - A general discussion echoarea covering many topics.
"test" is not a topic.
Hi all.
For the avoidance of doubt. Test messages are fine to be posted in FSX_GEN as well as in FSX_TST
Most will use FSX_TST but I'm not worried by posts appearing and being replied to in this echo.
Those of us old enough to recall will remember this was the original echo where everything resided to start with (all chatter, tests etc.)
Whilst FSX_TST has been created some time ago to service testing, and is well used. I have no issue with people opting to post a test message here.
What I would ask is that once you have posted and got a reply in this echo (and it's usually a new node setting up) please move follow-up testing etc. over to FSX_TST.
So in sum, OK to do initial 'am I connected to fsx' style 'tests' here but best to put ongoing testing.(I changed my setup, my date/time/aka is OK?? etc.) over into FSX_TST
My thanks to everyone for their helpful and supportive replies to new folks who post their 'hello world' / 'test' messages here to this echo as they get setup. Thanks also for the similar replies given to any system running tests in FSX_TST
