There seems to be a various bibles available for review.

KJV and NIV seem to be the most prominent.

But what are other ones? and should they be used ? I really
don't know many details of any.

My understanding is KJV (old) and NIV (new/modern/easier to read).

Would love to hear input from others that have experience with various bibles used in the Christian faith.

Is there any general gudiance on which bible is recommended
to use in studying the scriptures?

I've always had problems reading and understanding KJV.

So I personally have a NIV bible that is generally understandable.

What version of the bible do you read ? Why did you choose it?

    Curiously.

Nothing wrong with that. That version is good for some and there are other versions that are better and mean practically the same thing for others.

I have a NIV myself, it is a good book. I haven't gone to church for a few weeks as where I am living doesn't permit me to leave yet, but here in a week or two I should be able to be on pass to go to church again. Grab your NIV, there is usually somewhere in it front or back that have words that could interest you and point you to scripture in the Bible to read.

The best thing to do with the Bible is partake a particular scripture from
the word and apply it to the area of your life you need work on and keep reminding yourself of it until you fully grasp what it means to take care of whats bothering you.

What version of the bible do you read ? Why did you choose it?

NIV plain and simple, because it's easy to read.

There are three Holy Bible versions that I would recommend. The primary one for serious Bible Study is the NASB Life Application Bible. It is rather literal and what is printed there is what the original documents (scrolls) spoke to. NASB stands for The New American Standard Bible.

The second Holy Bible that I would recommend is the NKJV (The New King James Version) which is a mix if literal translation and making it easier to read while containing the original meaning.

The third Holy Bible that is really good is the ASV (The American Standard Version). It translates certain things literally where the other two only reveal the true meaning in the footnotes of the other Bibles. Reading an blunt version of Biblical text is refreshing. The ASV, being so old, is now in the Public Domain, which means that you can buy it for cheap or get its full text for free online.

    Cheers!

One thing I should mention is the Blue Letter Bible website. You can reach it at www.blueletterbible.org. It contains something like a dozen or more Holy Bible versions, all fully searchable.
