• couple more @ code requests?

From Finglonger@1:103/705 to digital man on Mon Apr 28 19:14:20 2025
Hello, was trying to do a few things in the menus and have maybe a couple requests for future versions?

I'm trying to add the following into a menu:

    total messages in area: @MSGS@
    msgs numbered: @SMB_LOW_MSG@ to @SMB_HIGH_MSG@
    new msgs in area: @SMB_NEW_MSG@

Maybe these exist and I'm just missing them in the docs?

Also a similar "new files in area" for file areas?

    Thanks!

Hello, was trying to do a few things in the menus and have maybe a couple requests for future versions?

I'm trying to add the following into a menu:

    total messages in area: @msgs@

The MSGS @-code is already supported (in v3.20e and later).

    msgs numbered: @SMB_LOW_MSG@ to @SMB_HIGH_MSG@
    new msgs in area: @SMB_NEW_MSG@

The SMB_* @-codes only work when a message base is *open* (e.g. for reading). What is the context in which you want to use these @-codes?

Maybe these exist and I'm just missing them in the docs?

Also a similar "new files in area" for file areas?

It takes time to open a message or file base and determine how many are new, so expect a visible delay when using such @-codes if/when added.

BTW, feature requests should be submitted here: https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/issues
