Gas here (and in Evansville and Louisville) is getting back near its pandemic pricing. The drop in prices seen from last year through
~January of this year has been completely wiped out.
I am sure it is worse in California.
I just bought a gas engine car (a hybrid, actually). I'm no longer
strictly working from home and have a 150 mile round-trip commute
2x/week. It's a long trek in my subcompact electric car with no spare
tire and crazy SUV drivers. I'm feeling the pain. $5.09/gallon for my
first tank.
At least I'm getting 43 mpg... :)
The EV charging infrastructure isn't ready for prime-time, unless you
drive a Tesla. I'd estimate that close to half of the chargers I've
tried have been out of service, failed to initiate charging or otherwise
failed to charge.
