Naturally, if they don't taste good to you or you feel like they have an odd texture, you wouldn't enjoy them. But a lot of people do like them.

    I'm gonna tell on myself.

    I carried a small can-opener when I was a teen.
I would ride my bike in neighborhoods away from my normal area.
If I wanted to stop at a grocery store and get a candy bar, cookies or some other snack I sometimes bought a can of Vienna sausages or a can of mushrooms.

After paying the grocer I'd open the can up, drink the liquid from the can and eat the contents.

I would ask the grocer to put the empty can in the trash for me.

    Hi Tiny and everyone else.
Please understand I mean no offense with this reply.

I've heard this before. I know I shouldnt, but I started thinking about this a bit more. I was brainwashed in school due to taking logic courses. They said I wouldn't get a diploma if I didn't take them. Now I didn't have to spell to get a diploma and I still can't do that. Anyhow, here goes.

    ---------------------------------------

Logically a question appeard in my mind and I honestly can't see how if we all had the same tastes we would be more, or less bored:

    premise:
If i only like what I like, and I don't like what anyone else likes, is my world more or less boring to me because someone else likes something different than what I like?

    questions:
Do I have to know if they like something I don't like to become bored?

Expressing the question about the phrase that is common "the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things," isn't this a false premise, or is it a phrase that means something else?

    example 1:
I like chocolate, but my wife doesn't, however I get no entertainment or novelty because she doesn't like chocolate.

    example 2:
If there were only mushrooms and nothing else to eat and all our lives we only ate mushrooms for all of time, how would I know I was bored of them?

    example 3:
I can see the colors I can see, but a bee can see colors I can't. I've never been bored of the colors I can see because I can't see the colors the bee can see eventhough I know bees can see more colors than myself.

    example 4:
I like the movies tron and wargames. I only watch those movies, and I'm not bored of the each time I watch them, but if someone else doesn't like tron or even know of the movie wargames, I still don't seem to get bored of tron and wargames.

    -----------------------------------------
I've never really had someone explain to me how this statement really works locigally.

Depends on what a person likes.

When I was in the Service a fellow in my company would go to the chow hall the same time as I did.
We sat and talked about things we like or dislike.
He said he didn't care for steak and I told him that I didn't like the taste of liver.
He said he loved liver .
After that when steak was on the menu he would get a steak and give it to me when we got to a table.
(The servers in the chow line said they couldn't give 2 steaks on a serving, but after someone finished eating they could come back in the line and get served another steak.
When liver was on the menu I got a piece of liver to give to my friend.

And YES!, I love Mushrooms on Steak, and Mushroom Gravy on Mashed Potatoes.

About liver: one time when I was in elementry school when I was at a friend's house for a class project , his mom fixed liver for supper.
I wasn't going to eat the liver, he told me his mom makes it taste really good. So I tried it and actually liked the taste and ate it all.

    I like Mushrooms on Pizza.
I also like Popcorn Shrimp. Don't have to mess with the shrimp tails and get to eat all of the shrimp pieces on my plate.

Also like BBQ Chicken Pizza too.
    Suits me.

I have ate pizza that had pineapple and ham on it.
Never tried anchovies, never thought I would like fish on pizza.
Thought anchovies would have a salty taste. Do they?

As I was writing that I thought about the salty liquid in a can of mushrooms (or vienna sausage).

I may ask the pizza place we visit regularly to put some anchovies on half the pizza with the other ingredients so I can see if they are acceptable to my taste buds.

Back in the 1950's grocery stores in the summertime didn't have air conditioning, just one or two cans in the store.
The liquid didn't get cool enuf to gel.

    Ahh, that'd explain it!

I would slurp the gel down if that was in the can when I opened it.
Vienna Sausage juice and Mushroom juice both have a salty taste that I like.

There are things that I like that are salty but I cannot think of any
"drinks" I like that are. ;)

When I was younger we had liver a lot. I did not really like it, but
sometimes it was ok. It turned out it depended on if it was beef liver or chicken liver. I cannot tell you which one I liked now but the one that

I also like Braunswager (sp?), which is a liver pate.

You know what's better on pizza? Anchovies and pineapple.

Anchovies yes. Pineapple no. Wife and grandson (and kid)
all like pineapple. I've tried it, I can eat it. I don't like it.

I do not like the taste, or texture, of pineapple. Oddly, I do like the
taste of ham that has been cooked in pineapple juice, just as long as I
don't have to eat any pineapple chunks. :)

Pineapple in pizza is a big no-no for me. If it is on a pizza that has a
lot of other toppings, I will pick it off. If it is one of the few
toppings, I probably won't try to eat it unless the cheese is good.

My father used to buy orange juice that was wattered down with pineapple
or grapefruit juice (depending on what he bought). He'd always get upset
that I could tell the difference and would not drink it.

They're close, but a bit different. I've only ever seen Canadian bacon cut as thin round pieces, but ham could be cut in various sizes (usually cubed or rectangular, from what I've seen). Also, I think the texture and flavor is slightly different.

    I like Mushrooms on Pizza.

Also like BBQ Chicken Pizza too.
    Suits me.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 by AccuChef (tm)

Title: Chopped Liver (Original by HeatherR)
    Categories: Meats,Shawn
    Yield: 1 Servings

    1 Or two packaged liver
    4-6 Onion
    2 Hard eggs,Boiled
    2 T Mayo
    Salt and pepper,To Taste

Rinse livers until water until they run clean. If using beef liver
consider soaking in milk for a bit as well.

Fry livers until done (slightly pink) and set aside to cool.

Fry onion in meduim heat in LOTS of oil (almost poaching them)

Hard boil the eggs peel and cool

Chop livers in food processor, stir in mayo, crumble in eggs, drump
in all oil and onion from pan. salt pepper to taste.

You can either blend again to make a pate or leave the eggs, onion etc
whole for more texture. I prefer to blend the shit out of it while it
looks like a pile of crap it tastes great.

man i love pineapple. i like it in the can. the dole kind are good. then i drink the juice or sugar water. regular fresh pineapple ia a bit acidic for me.

I have been known to eat them when they are in a can of fruit cocktail.
While I still don't like the texture, they are sweet enough that way I can tolerate it. ;)

My father used to buy orange juice that was wattered down with
pineapple or grapefruit juice (depending on what he bought). He'd always get upset
that I could tell the difference and would not drink it.

I remember when that was popular, I have had it but like you I don't like it.
I prefer OJ to be all orange.

Yes it was. If my father was buying it, it must have been during a time
when pineapple and grapefruit juice was cheaper than orange juice.
Otherwise, I am pretty sure he wouldn't have been buying it and trying to
    pass it off as OJ.

Of course vodka is a great addition too, but I don't drink anymore.

I don't drink that often, either, but have been known to mix vodka or
    tequila with it.

There are things that I like that are salty but I cannot think of any "drinks" I like that are. ;)

    Margaritas! ARRIBA LA BOMBA! :)

I usually order mine without the salt on the rim. I have had them that
way, too, and won't complain about it. ;)

Anchovies is a bridge too far though. Maybe someday.

Add some salty to that sweet! You could try Spam first. It's not quite the same thing, though. Still good.

maybe he just liked it for himself.
i'm not sure when they started doing this but do you know that orange juice is the most processed type of juice? they put the liquid in a tank and seal it in a vaccume and then it loses all it's flavor. then they add a 'flavor packet' which is pretty much chemicals extracted from peels. the most natural version of orange juice is from concentrate which is processed as well. they introduce water into orange juice pulp.

i would think pineapple and grapefruit juice are more expensive than orange juice to produce.

    Ummmmm..... no.

Maybe the OJ that *you* drink is that way. The "most natural" kind of
OJ is called "fresh squeezed". If you haven't had that, you really
    haven't had orange juice.

Spam actually used to be a weekly staple in my childhood.

People have talked badly about Spam for decades. I thought it was all right.

Never considered it as a pizza topping, if that's what you mean. Maybe I'll try it on my next homemade one.

I've been working in Oakland, CA recently - a town I lived in for many
years before moving to the coast.

I walked by Cafe Van Kleef, a funky bar we used to go to. Little Shop of Horrors design, lots of coolhip people, live music on an elevated stage,
    and Salty Dogs.

They'd take 2 grapefruits, squeeze them into a pint glass with ice, add
a shot of vodka, salt the rim, and add a grapefruit wedge as garnish.

    Heavenly.

The first time I went there, during the band's break, Hot Pink Feathers,
a local burlesque dance troupe did their carnaval routine as a warmup
for the parade the following week.

The second time I went there, I felt lucky getting a parking place in
front - it was in a semi-dodgy part of downtown, at least at night.

Around 12:30am, the bartender asked if anyone drove the gold toyota
    parked out front.

I went out to see the aftermath of the bouncer bouncing someone, him
coming back to get his friends, the bouncer beating them all off, and
they bidding a hasty retreat - across the tops of several cars parked in
front. Trunk, hood, roof all stove in, windshield broken. Insurance did
me well, though, to the tune of $9000.

I went back in to the bar to get us another round of Salty Dogs. The
bartender said "$24.50". I pointed at my car, and she said "On the
    house"...

    Good Times.

My wife's birthday was this weekend, and we went to a restaurant in Carmel-by-the-sea last night. I had the Osso Bucco, she the risotto. We
split a Caesar salad, and couldn't place why it was so good.

    The anchovies were fresh.

We live near Monterey, where Cannery Row was where all of the anchovy
and sardine canneries thrived in the early 20th century. They must still
be able to harvest some, because this anchovy wasn't oily, didn't have
that musky, fishy taste - it was much lighter, much more complex. Very interesting.
